Diabetes Research Center Team

Principal Investigator and CEO of the company, Professor Jean Louis Selam, is committed to the research protocols full-time, and directly involved in the performing and documentation of study visits. Currently a regular lecturer at USC, Dr. Selam is a former Associate Professor of UC Irvine and the University of Paris, France, and has a world reputation in the field of intensive diabetes therapy, e.g. insulin pumps and diabetes remissions.

He is assisted by a permanent team of 4-8 study coordinators, a budget and regulatory manager, a dedicated recruiter, and a lab technician,. Two sub-investigators with more than 25 years experience in research, and 2 electrophysiologists with more than 10 years experience in neuropathy studies are also available as needed.


Dr. Selam received his undergraduate education and medical doctorate in France, at the University of Montpellier. He is a specialist in internal medicine and endocrinology — in France since 1979, and licensed in California since 1987. He has worked as an associate professor at the University of California Irvine in Dr. Charles' Diabetes Research Program from 1986-1990, then as an associate professor at the University Medical School of Paris, department of Diabetology, from 1990-2003. In 2005, he was appointed a Visiting Professor by the USC School of Medicine, Los Angeles.

Dr. Selam is the author of 115 peer-reviewed publications and 130 invited articles or chapters in books. He has participated in over 350 conferences as a lecturer and presenter — the majority in the field of new techniques of insulin therapy including intensive insulin and implantable insulin pumps, a field in which he is considered as a world leader.
